Explore the virtually limitless trails and varied terrain on foot or mountain bike —or horseback. Local trail systems in the Lost Sierra include the scenic Lakes Basin (Graeagle) and Mount Hough (Quincy) areas filled with epic rides and hikes like Mills Peak, Sierra Buttes Lookout, and Mount Elwell (which is ranked 1 of the top rides in the world!)
Also, be certain to check out the local Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship to catch a shuttle for the world-renown Downieville Downhill mountain bike trail, attend a local event, volunteer or buy a trail map of the area.
Thanks to the nonprofit Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship, there are many mountain
biking trails throughout the Lakes Basin (now called the Gold Lakes) area,
which is also a favorite of hikers, trail runners and fisherpeople.
